Take a minute and imagine yourself
walking down a street and suddenly you spot a very pretty girl. You
know that you want to say something, but you cannot bring yourself to
do it. Nothing comes to mind of what to say to her and your in a
panic. As she passes by, all you can do is just keep on walking and
beating yourself up for not being able to say anything to her. This
my friends is what we call Approach Anxiety or AA for short. AA can
take many forms and manifest in many different ways just like the
story above. One of the worst manifestations I have heard was about
a man who literally would have to excuse himself within the first
five seconds of the interaction to go throw up. Now, bear in mind
that won't happen to you, but it is a really bad situation.
So you may be asking yourself, what
can I do to get rid of my AA. Well the most obvious answer would be
to just go out their and approach. George Clooney once said in one
of his movies that in order to get the courage to do something, you
must first do it and then get the courage after. Now even though
this is a movie quote, it is actually quite true. In order to get
over your AA and gain courage you must simply go out their and do it.
Even if your screw up at least you went and did it. So what do you
got to lose?
